The project “AS Saku Metall Allhanke Tehas digitalization project” received support from the European Union recovery fund NextGenerationEU
Project summary
As a result of the project, the digitalization of the production at AS Saku Metall Allhanke Tehas will be increased, thereby increasing the company’s value added per employee. During the investment, AS Saku Metall Allhanke Tehas will acquire a new automatic warehouse fiber laser cutting machine.
Project goal and result
The goal of the project is to increase production capacity and manufacture more complex products, in order to have greater competitiveness in the metal industry. The company’s aim is balanced development through productivity growth and process, technology and personnel development. The acquisition of a new and more capable fiber laser cutting machine is necessary for automation, which can cut the same detail approximately 4 times faster than old laser cutting machines. The fiber laser cutting machine comes with an automatic warehouse that optimizes the time and reduces the physical workload of employees.
As a result of the project, a new and more powerful fiber laser cutting machine will be implemented, which includes interface software for compatibility between the machine and ERP software. This allows work instructions and programs to be transmitted to the machine through the internal network. Implementation of the fiber laser cutting machine reduces the number of employees by one operator and increases the company’s turnover by approximately 2.5% as a result of production volume growth.
The automatic warehouse enables faster material exchange and loading and unloading without using human resources. In addition, the cutting machine can be left pre-set with the automatic warehouse to cut overnight without the need for operator attention, increasing production at the factory.
